Pair of Bronze Ornamental Ewers

This is a pair of bronze ornamental ewers. The patina is well established on both. Best we can estimate is that these were produced sometime in the late 1800s or the first half of the 20th century, but as the manufacturer did not leave any identifying marks that we can find, that's all we can say. The two are not exact matches; not unusual for handmade items from over 100 years ago.
Our favorite part of these is the side design, shown enlarged. This appears to be a griffin attacking a lion on one side, and attacking a bull on the other.
We would classify these as Very Good to Excellent, but no higher than that. There is some expected wear, and one of them has a cracked base but that does not affect how it sits on a tabletop. They are just under 12" tall, and each weigh slightly more than 2 1/2 lbs. Quite solid!
Alternative use: these could be used as bookends for a small set of books. Or just set out on their own for a design highlight. We're actually quite fond of them, and we think you will be too!
