Hollywood Regency Open Compote Bowl

This is a combination piece from the 20th century that uses an Italian marble and brass bottom combined with a piece of East German porcelain to make what was once a candy dish with a lid; however, the lid is nowhere to be seen, and so now it is an open compote bowl.
Nevertheless the piece is quite attractive, and the porcelain pattern especially so. The brass on the bottom is almost 100% copper, with just enough zinc to keep it from corroding. It stands just under 7" tall, with a width of about 6". Perfect for keys, change, fruit, candy, etc. Some might even fill it with water and place floating flowers in it. However you wish, it is quite striking!
